Ambassador. Dr. Promise Ekpoye Nakus, is the Inventor, Founder, and Managing Director of Pioneer Waste Master Limited.
He is widely recognized for pioneering the innovative concept known as the Pioneer Waste Unit (PWU), a visionary waste management and recycling initiative designed to revolutionize environmental sanitation, waste collection, and recycling systems in Nigeria and beyond.
The invention of the Pioneer Waste Unit (PWU) was born out of over two decades of intensive research, observation, and practical studies on the challenges facing waste management in Nigeria.
During this long period of study and development, Amb. Dr. Nakus identified the enormous economic, environmental, and social losses caused by improper waste disposal, indiscriminate dumping, poor recycling culture, and inadequate waste management infrastructure across the country.
Driven by a passion to create sustainable solutions, he developed a comprehensive roadmap and innovative blueprint aimed at transforming waste into wealth while positioning Nigeria to harness an estimated $250 billion economic opportunity believed to be lost annually through ineffective waste management practices.
The Pioneer Waste Unit (PWU) was conceived as a cutting-edge waste collection system tailored to promote cleaner cities, healthier communities, environmental sustainability, and organized waste disposal mechanisms. The invention is strategically designed to support government policies on sanitation, environmental protection, urban development, and infrastructure improvement.
Beyond environmental cleanliness, the invention also seeks to address unemployment and economic instability by creating millions of direct and indirect job opportunities across the waste management value chain. Through city-structured waste collection, sorting, recycling, processing, transportation, and environmental services, the initiative is projected to empower youths, women, entrepreneurs, and local communities while strengthening internally generated revenue for governments at different levels.
